Following HSE Investigations Valencia Waste Management have been fined £3m after the death of two employees in two separate incidents in 2019 and 2020.  These incidents happened whilst the business was still part of the Viridor Group and under former management/ownership. The new ownership acquired Viridor’s landfill portfolio in April 2022, which included the two ongoing investigations.  At this time all recycling facilities including at Earls Barton and collections fleet including in Devon had been sold and were no longer part of the business. 

The new management holds an excellent safety record and is committed to operating its landfill assets ensuring all its staff, contractors and stakeholders remain safe at all times. The current management  offers its condolences to the families of Mark Wheatley and Michael Atkin at this time. ”
